The Parish Nurse program seeks to work one-on-one with people experiencing a crisis in their lives. The program is committed to bring together spiritual, emotional and physical health to achieve wellness and manage illness through wholistic care. (There is no giving of medications, changing of dressing, and no invasive procedures are done in this program.)
If you have a medical background and would to connect your expertise with your faith, and can give 2 to 3 hours a month to someone in need, please call the Parish Nurse program at 612-827-6159 to see how your talents can be used.
Below is a brief listing of the services provided by
the Parish Nurse program in 2003.
- Over 250 home visits.
- Over 875 phone check-ins with elderly (referred from professionals)
- Presented information to over 1,600 people.
This included TRUST congregations, service providers and volunteers.
- Arranged or provided transportation to doctors.
- Provided consultation to clergy of TRUST congregations.
- Served on TRUST congregation's care committees and health teams.
- Coordinated the set up of flu shot clinics.
425 flu shots given in 11 congregations last year.
- Monthly TRUST Topics column
- Provided consultation to other TRUST service programs
(Chore Program and Meals-on-Wheels). - Explained and reviewed medications.
- Worked with TRUST Youth Ambassadors in service projects,
leadership training and worship events.
- Arranged home services for elderly.
